Awards ceremony for the winners of the regional “Women and Science” scholarship for 2025.
Holding this ceremony online allowed for a large audience to be reached despite geographical constraints. The participation of officials and institutional figures strengthened the event's reach, confirming its strategic importance for biomedical research and gender equality in Central Africa.
Aims
- Promoting gender equality in scientific and medical research.
- To highlight often invisible journeys, particularly those of mothers who are researchers.
- Stimulating female scientific excellence in Central Africa.
For the 2025 edition, the regional "Women & Science" grant recognized two award recipients, illustrating the diversity and richness of women's careers in scientific research.
- PhD students enrolled in doctoral theses in scientific, biological or exact disciplines.
- Scientific mothers, holding a doctorate and engaged in a research project while assuming their parental role.
The Congolese Foundation for Medical Research (FCRM) and GMFK joined forces to give this edition a regional and inclusive dimension. The scholarship enabled online participation from candidates from Cameroon, Gabon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Chad, the Central African Republic, and of course, Congo.
The ceremony was punctuated by testimonials from the award recipients, who shared their experiences and challenges, as well as their unwavering passion for science. These stories highlighted the resilience and leadership of women scientists, while inspiring the next generation.
Beyond the individual award, the Women & Science Fellowship represents a collective investment in the future of African biomedical research. It contributes to training, encouraging, and valuing women's skills, which are essential for meeting contemporary scientific and medical challenges.
By placing women at the heart of knowledge, the FCRM and the GMFK affirm their leading role in promoting female scientific excellence and leadership in Central Africa. The 2025 edition of the Women & Science Scholarship thus confirms Brazzaville as a regional center of scientific influence and equal opportunities.
